About This Work
Inspired by the Greek island of Naxos, this piece captures the essence of ancient
mythology and the island's timeless beauty. The work combines elements of classical
Greek art with contemporary techniques, creating a bridge between past and present.
The composition reflects the island's dramatic landscapes and rich cultural heritage.
Technique & Process
Mixed media combining acrylic paint, metallic leaf, and found materials from the
island. The surface incorporates fragments of local stone and sand, creating a
tactile connection to the place. Multiple layers of transparent glazes build up
the image, while metallic elements catch light to suggest the island's golden
sunsets and ancient treasures.
Inspiration & Context
Created during the stay on the island of Naxos, this work emerged from daily
explorations of ancient sites and natural landscapes. The artist was particularly
inspired by the island's connection to Greek mythology and the way ancient stories
seem to live on in the landscape itself.
