Plant forms extend across a pale green ground. Charcoal lines connect the flowers and leaves, while passages of oil colour give them weight. Made in response to a track by DJ Mindaniel, the painting follows a movement from tension towards release.

Technique

A ground of oil paint and turpentine is applied with a cloth. Charcoal establishes the plant forms, followed by colour applied with a brush.

Inspiration

The painting was made while listening to Mindaniel’s electronic music. The track’s rhythm guided the movement of the marks as part of their collaboration for Contours of Sound.
