Contours of Sound
Charcoal and Oil on Canvas 2025 100 × 100 cm

About This Work

A meditation on what it takes for our soul to find its way through the labyrinth of emotions. This piece captures the delicate moment when the heart learns to let go, transforming struggle into serenity. The composition flows like a gentle exhale, inviting viewers to experience their own process of relaxation and emotional liberation.

Technique & Process

The canvas begins its journey with cloth and oil, mixed with turpentine, creating a fluid foundation that breathes with the rhythm of the music. Charcoal then moves across the surface, sketching the flora of our soul in bold, expressive strokes. Finally, the brush takes flight, each stroke a whisper of feeling, each colour evoking a piece of a Zen garden.

Inspiration & Context

Part of the "Contours of Sound" collection, this painting was created in collaboration with DJ Mindaniel. The artist painted while listening to Mindaniel's electronic music track, which inspired the flowing, meditative quality of the work. The music's rhythm and energy guided the brushstrokes, creating a visual representation of the journey from tension to release, perfectly matching the track's emotional flow and the painting's title.
